How do you handle temptation when it comes?

Temptation will come, the question is how do you handle it when it comes? I pray and ask the Lord to help me to resist just like in James 4:7 "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." It's not easy, I know but the Lord also said he'd give us an escape...

1 Corinthians 10:13
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
