If you want forgiveness you need to be forgiving.

The story we find in Matthew 18:21-35 talks about how a king extended forgiveness to a servant who owed him money. That same servant had his servant come to him and say please, please just give me time well the servant who just got forgiven of his debt through his servant in jail and said you can come out when you pay. When the King heard of this, he then through that servant into jail saying "Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?" 

If we want forgiveness in our lives then we must be forgiving towards others as well.
