To Tithe or Not To Tithe, or is it Offerings?

A hot topic amongst Christians. Let's just go to what the bible says. In the word we see that tithing was part of the Old Testament but in the New Testament giving is there as well. You can argue there is no law for tithing and you would be right and there's also a greater expectation in the New Testament for us believers. In the New Testament we can look at a few verses that come to mind.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work

and in Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

It's clear in the Word that we should be giving to the work of God, how much is between you and him. It comes down to a heart issue and remember, this is the only area where we can actually test God.
